House of Prayer

What is the Church?

It is people, who profess faith in Jesus Christ and are inhabited with the Holy Spirit. It is these who worship the Living God.

When the temple curtain was torn it represented that through the blood of Jesus you could now enter into God’s presence at anytime. God’s Spirit moved out from the temple and we became the temple, our bodies.

When you acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit indwells your being. Therefore, no temple is needed today. People can congregate any place, any where, to worship God. And only two or more are needed.

We are the church… we happen to meet in buildings.

Then what are the purpose of our buildings?

They are a luxury. A sign of previous times in our country where there was religious freedom and financial excess. They will not always be there for us. But, since we have them they are for one main reason.

Prayer. Jesus commanded that His house be a house of prayer. Why? Because only when we pray are we acknowledging we can not do it on our own and that we need God. It states our dependence on Him, the giver of life and breath. Teaching, instruction, worship, praise… all are to be done, but prayer is the primary command. It is by prayer that the Kindgom comes. And in prayer all your attention is on God.

If the church is not defined by a building, then how is it organized?

By geography. When Paul addressed the Church he did so by its city, or region. For example: Rome (Romans), Corinth (Corinthians) etc. We are the Church at Dallas. To reach the city, we must act with one spirit for the city.

All our teachers (pastors) should be working together to reach the city. Because they are not, we are due judgement. We are due just discipline for our selfishness and competition.

Why? We will be known by your love for one another. A failure to love, is a failure to fulfill the gospel.

Our competition and vein conceit is sin. We have become about ourselves and our kingdoms rather than His. Our inability to work with one another is sin. The wages of sin is death. So rather than bringing death to His body, which is against His character, He will remove the disease so that the Body will bring new Life. Competition and self must be put to death.

This is why we pray. To repent and confess our sin. We should repent and confess daily so our account with Him is short. If we humble ourselves and pray, He will heal our land. Teach us how to pray, Lord. Motivate us to prayer.

Triune God

I repent and confess on behalf of our city and our spiritual leaders. We have not followed your commands. We idolize the pulpit rather than worshiping You, Jesus. Forgive us our sins as we seek you. Bring us to our knees Lord so we seek you in prayer and fasting. Our souls cry out for mercy God. Lord Jesus have mercy on us. Have mercy on us Lord as children you love. Discipline us so we learn and grow.

Like the walls of Jericho, may the walls of our buildings fall so that the Church will arise and come together. Like the walls of Jericho, may the walls of our buildings fall so that the Church will arise and come together. Like the walls of Jericho, may the walls of our buildings fall so that the Church will arise and come together.

Remove the idols so that the Church will arise, awake, and take this city for Your Name.

Amen
