What man kind needs is a do over. A rebirth. If we want to see change or something new, we need to be made new. We need to start over again, and guess what… we can.

Remember that passage where Jesus tells Nicodemus he has to be ‘reborn’?

John 3:5-8 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Jesus is saying that even though your body can not be reborn, your spirit can.

The older I get, the more I still feel the same inside. I may look in the mirror and see an older person, but it is still me. It’s the ‘kid inside us’ right? No way, it is your spirit. It is who you are! And that same spirit can be reborn. In fact, to experience true life… it must be.

Nicodemus asks then the obvious question, John 3:9 “How can this be?”

And this sets up the most famous Bible verse in the world.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

For those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God, Lord and Savior, they become regenerated or reborn. That means that although their bodies may fail and die, their spirit is reborn and new. Who they are, the person inside the body, lives on with God for eternity. Not just as a spirit but with a new heavenly body.

Does the idea of eternity scare you a bit? Like one big church service? Well… you’re not the only one. Click the ‘All Things New’ tab on this  blog and it may give a little insight into how awesome eternity will be.

I mean… the limitless God who created sex, great wine, and great food will make all things new, forever… should be a good time. It may be worth listening to what Jesus has to say about it.
