Only One

Do people let you down often? Does it hurt you deeply?

Pain is natural and being let down is inevitable, but there could be a deeper issue at hand.

When we place our leaders, family, and friends in the position intended for Christ they will let us down 100% of the time. There is only One who does not disappoint. A cynic and critic fails to keep Jesus as their central focus. The result of hoping, trusting, and placing our faith in people is emotional instability and pain. You will run from one thing to another looking for a mistake free person to lead you, love you, and protect you.

But the only person for that role is Jesus.

A time of failure is an opportunity to admit our sin and to glorify Christ for His grace. When we are hurt by a person it is a time to exercise forgiveness and grace. The same forgiveness and grace God gave you for your failure.

At some point we will all let others down. Our children, our friends and our family. But to be human is a great opportunity to give all the glory to Christ, all the power to the blood of Jesus, and all the honor to the Father who sent His son to cover us not only from our past sin, but from the sins of our future.

If our lives are not marked by grace, they are not marked by Christ.

It can be hard to accept God’s grace, hard to believe it is really there for us. It is even harder to give it away as it was given to us. But the ability of an individual to give grace reflects the individuals ability to receive it. Both accepting and giving grace reflects the glory the God.

And both are required of us.

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
