When God Feels Distant

I got an email today from a pastor in Africa I keep in touch with. We pray for each other on a regular basis and this week I got an email with bad news.

His motorcycle which helps him get around town to share the Gospel was stolen. He now has no transportation and is very upset. He had been encouraging me for months so now it was my turn to reciprocate the blessing. I shared this passage:

1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Although we can’t see it when we are going through it, our trials are forces refining us into something greater than gold. A child of God in the image and likeness of our Creator. Stamped and marked with His seal, and as priceless as the blood shed for our salvation. And in the process, God moves behind the scenes to accomplish what we could never do.

God will provide new transportation for Pastor Mathew, and God will provide for you. Just as the beggars who sought after Jesus, it may be a simple cry for mercy that releases His blessing and deliverance in our lives. Join with me in praying for Pastor Mathew Ntale in Uganda – for new transportation.

All for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ.
